How Your 0-100 Health Score Is Calculated in 1 Minute

When a report opens, everybody looks at the number first. 79. Is that good or bad? Why does my friend have 91 and I'm stuck at 79? I'm not going to recite formulas at you. I'll explain the thinking behind the score, and you'll be able to estimate your own in your head.

The most important thing first: **this score is not an exam. Higher isn't automatically better, and there's no passing line.** It's a mirror. It only reflects how exposed your account is right now.

Four dimensions fight each other, then get weighted

The score doesn't come out of thin air. Four blocks build it, each with a different weight:

  • **Share of risky tweets**: risky tweets divided by total tweets. This is the biggest variable and carries the most weight. Big account, lots of risk, this number drags everything down.
  • **High-risk category weight**: not all risk is equal. A tweet tagged phone, email, or identity costs more points than one tagged sensitive. The more dangerous the category, the heavier the single-tweet penalty.
  • **Time decay**: most people don't see this coming. A phone number tweeted in 2016 is less dangerous than the same tweet from 2024, because the number has probably been deactivated. Older tweets lose fewer points, but not zero, since screenshots stick around in other people's hands.
  • **Quantity effect**: this isn't linear. One phone number tweet versus ten phone number tweets isn't a tenfold difference. It's the difference between "an accident" and "a habit." More posts mean higher marginal harm.

Those four get weighted, summed, and mapped onto 0-100. That's your digital footprint score.

Roughly what the bands look like

BandMeaningTypical accountPriority action
90-100CleanNew accounts, restrained postersJust maintain
70-89Mostly healthyOlder account with scattered exposureClear P1, mind sensitive
40-69Risk building upYears of loose talk, geotag check-insStart at P0
0-39High riskContact details and identity leakedHandle P0/P1 now

The bands are my own observation, not a precise scale, but the direction is right. If you drop below 40, don't wait.

Why a low score doesn't mean you must delete

I want to repeat this one. A low score means more exposure. It does not mean you have to empty your account.

Three reasons. First, the tweets you treasure, the ones with real emotional value, aren't on the penalty list unless they carry a risk label. Second, a low score can come entirely from P3-level embarrassment, which is cringe but not dangerous, so the priority stays low. Third, some exposure you never controlled, posts from other people, screenshots already out there. Deleting your own account is only the first step of damage control.

The score reminds, it doesn't sentence. It tells you mines are here. Whether to clear them, and in what order, is your call.
